Yarning for others

During the spring and summer of 2013, three avid knitters from St. Thomas got together and founded Yarning for Others. This group welcomes all knitters and crocheters from the community of Dallas who wish to get together to knit and crochet hats, scarves and prayer shawls for those in our city who are in need of winter warmth or healing.

Our products have gone to local schools and women's shelters. We also knit and crochet purple hats for local hospitals to be given to new parents before their newborns leave the hospital. The hats are to remind parents that crying is part of a baby's existence, and they are not to be shaken.

We meet twice monthly on the first Wednesday from 3 to 5 pm and the third Wednesday from 10 am to noon. Yarn and needles are available, and we have individuals who can teach knitting and crocheting.
